Yet another ActiveSync issue! Turns out rebooting the computer running ActiveSync resets the serial port to COM1. Meaning every time I reboot I have to open up ActiveSync connection settings and set the serial connection to use COM4. Thankfully there is a fix.
Point your favorite registry editor to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software \Microsoft\Windows CE Services\ and edit the value "SerialPort" to the correct COM port. It should be the one that was working before you rebooted!
