I got an email yesterday asking me if MRE is dead. For the record MRE is still in development but I have taken a break from it to focus other parts of my life (besides tech). Here's an update for those interested. I've re-written MRE in .NET 2.0, made some interface tweaks, added some features and fixed some bugs. I think it will be ready in the next month or so. All I have left are the search and import features.
This what's in 1.2 so far.
Features:
- Location bar
Shows the location of the current key in the top tool bar.
- Goto Button
Allows you to paste a key into the location bar and automatically go to that key. It handles most variations of writing registry keys. For example, HKLM/Control Panel, [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Control Panel], etc...
- Restart ActiveSync
- Google a key
Bugs Squashed:
- Fixed export bug that caused the error "Key not found" when exporting one of the base keys (HKLM etc..)
- Fixed bug that caused "Combination of Array index plus size was not large enough." when opening certain keys
- Fixed export bug where "default" was being used instead of "@" for the default key
- Fixed interface bug where entire values list would disappear(whoah)
- Fixed bug that could cause MRE to freeze after deleting a key

If You release a software (wonderfull) just release the bug free version 1.2 (Fixed export bug that caused the error "Key not found" when exporting one of the base keys (HKLM etc..))
If You can't, delete it !!!!!!!!!!!! |

Hey, this is a cool tool, thanks. Where are the dll's supposed to go? I want to clean up my desktop, put the exe file in my programs menu and the dlls somewhere else, like the usual place (System32) but it doesn't like that. Any suggestions? |

Great Prog Bro ..
All u need is always 'soft reset' after u change Registry .. it work perfectly with my D900 ..
This Prog can boost performance 10% until 20% (after benchmark), change windows 5.0 themes colour (i only got 7 diferences colour without loosing performance), boost visual performance, now my D900 can play WMV or MP4 with 640X480 resolution video with 128 bitrate audio and no 'lag' at all.

hello, can anyone please send me the complite qtek 8010 registry tree, or maybe a how to disable the headset combleatly, becouse the connector in the phone fel out and it is stuck in headset mode, and even if I change the profile to normal in the registry it still wont work, but I have ringer sound so the speaker is OK. Let alone for the speed by which it enumerates the keys, there should not be any reason why I should use this tool. I have been using Registry Editor which MS provides with the development environment. If you can provide an option in your tool to import(merge) a .reg file to the device registry, this tool would definitely have an edge over the MS registry editor. Please take this as a sincere suggestion. |

With respect, Sreekanth, if you see no benefits then don't use it. Not everyone has access to MS development tools and, as such, this is the perfect utility. I do agree that .reg import would be a nice feature, though. |

while you're at it, do you think it is possible to add a registry backup and import feature?? That'd be super! There's times when I have desperately needed it, but I had to go in and do the registry tweaks all over again! Too much time!!

You should add a feature to make it vista 64 bit Ultimate compatible for my JarJar Binks i8900 so I can run mpeg6 files @ 1920 by 1080p as I just put DDR8 PC19800 sticks in it (64GB now!) and I need to tweak the tree/node for 16.9 aspect ration to auto flip when I am lying down (horizontal instead of vert, not landscape vs portrait like so many of you old schoolers). Why you are at it, add a search function that will automatically create or edit a reg value based on what I want it to do. Like if I want to use bluetooth v3.2 to control my X10 home HVAC settings it will know what keys to add without me having to do that lame research stuff. And have a switch for like 180 some odd languages and dialects too, and oh yeah, by next month. |

I'd love to see MRE revived - I haven't been able to find a better remote regedit tool for Windows Mobile. TTXN Remote Registry comes close, as it allows search, but still no import.
Greg, not sure if you still read this blog, but the world needs MRE 1.2! :)

sad the version 1.2 didn't come out, the other version isn't better than the Microsoft tool (ccregedt.exe, Remote Registry Editor), it's even much slower. :-
